During flex block on Tuesday December 9th, sports captains from all seasons joined together for a workshop/discussion presented by Iain from the Positive Coaching Alliance. During the workshops, captains learned about the role of social media in high school sports. While it can be a great tool for spreading team spirit and recruiting new players, it also comes with many risks. When taking on a social media presence, you are taking on a brand, image, and reputation of yourself and your team, so it is important to think of what you want those things to look like, and how you want to be perceived. Iain’s presentation was a good reminder for our captains to keep representing the Medway Mustangs in a positive manner and hold awareness for their teammates social media presence.
