The Summer Street Times asked students who are running in our 2026 class elections two questions– why are you running and why should we vote for you? Here’s what the candidates had to say:
FRESHMEN (2029)
President
Emma Laven
Vice President
Ella Grimes
I am running because I enjoyed being Vice President for almost six months and I want to do it again. Also I like being the person that people come to about issues.
People should vote for me because I am a friendly face who will be an outlet to all. No matter who they are, I am glad to help and I want people to know that.
Treasurer
Avelin Meluski
Historian
Mya McDowell
I want to run due to my ambition and determination to making our school better. With my experience from being class historian this year, I am excited for the possibility to continue my efforts and plans for the class of 2029. People should vote for me due to my strong leadership and partnership abilities. I love connecting with my fellow classmates and being a person that can be depended upon. I am able to lead discussions while implementing ideas from others creating a more unified class. I am also aware that my goals for the class of 2029 and our school cannot be completed in one year so reelecting me allows for our student government to continue working forward and preparing for following years.
SOPHOMORES (2028)
President
Aiden Behan
So I wanted to run because I wanted to get a wider variety of people in our class to start getting involved with class activities and raising money. I think that I would be able to persuade a large group of people that aren’t connected as much with the class activities to start getting more involved so that we could have more help with pie drives and bake sales to make more money so we could have a really nice junior and senior prom night for example. I am a good leader I’m a very good communicator and will always listen to new ideas or advice from my classmates.
Emma Keavany
I am running for office because I want to unite our grade and bond us in many different ways! I really enjoy being in a leadership position, and I get along with everyone. I enjoy being a part of a position where I can make decisions and fundraise, and I have a lot of creative ideas that I think would help benefit our class. Also, I want to fundraise for our class and make sure we have a very good prom, as well as different Senior Year activities. I think that I would really enjoy being Class President, and I think our class would benefit from me being president.
People should vote for me because I have many different fundraising ideas, as well as I have a lot of past experiences with being in leadership positions, including being Captain of my JV lacrosse and field hockey teams, being camp counselors for many different camps for the past few years, and being the sophomore representative on the Chorus Executive Board. Also, I do a lot with our community and volunteer for many different parts of Medway. I have helped stock shelves at the food pantry and I volunteer for almost every middle school concert and musical/play. I have also made sandwiches and delivered them to homeless shelters. I enjoy being a leader and organizing/fundraising for different activities, and I believe that if I am class president, our class will have a really good Junior Year!
Vice President
Maggie Drake
Maggie Drake is asking for your vote for 10th grade class Vice President . Maggie says her reason for running is “because I find it important to help others and take a leadership role in times of need.” Maggie is a member of the girls field hockey and lacrosse team, as well as a member of the Medway Performing Arts program. She says that her participation in student office is important because “school events are what shape a positive high school experience.” Maggie makes a good candidate for vice president because of her “charismatic and empathetic” personality. With these qualities Maggie says she will be able to put herself “in the shoes of my peers, it makes me more connected to my classmates” bettering her ability to help out the sophomore class. Maggie’s goal of being the class vice president is to provide a positive experience for students to “look back on and say they had a good time.” Maggie is hoping for your vote on Friday!
Geetika Seethammagan
Geetika Seethammagari is running for the Sophomore year vice president. Geetika’s purpose for running is “to help lead the class of 2028 so we can have an amazing high school experience.” Geetika is an active participant in the Medway community and wants to apply her leadership skills “where it matters to make our school better than it is.” Geetika says that “Electing me for Vice President is a good decision to make because I enjoy leading others and I consider myself good at listening to the issues around me.” She also says that her past experience of being “the Vice President of the class of 2028 for the past two years already” makes her well-qualified for the role. Geetika hopes for your vote for the class of 2028 Vice President on Friday.

An interesting fact about me is that I like to do archery in my free time. People should vote for me because I have experience in leadership and I’m dedicated to making junior year events the best that they can be.
Historian
Faithly Ange-Murielle Mbitgna Nkoudjeu
I want to run for Historian because I like being involved in school events and capturing memories. I think it’s important to help students remember the fun parts of the school year. People should vote for me because I’m creative, responsible, and I’ll make sure school memories and events are shared in a fun way while including everyone.
Connor Fukuda
I was motivated to run for office because I am really passionate about leadership and doing what I can to have a positive impact on other people and our school is very important to me. By being a student officer, I will have more power to implement the changes I want to see and be a positive force for individuals at our school and our community as a whole. People should vote for me because I am a strong leader who has the necessary collaboration skills and dedication to work diligently to achieve changes and implement fundraising for our class. In addition, this being my first year living in Massachusetts, I have also attended a few schools outside of Medway that give me a broader perspective about what changes/fundraising could be implemented and how those means could be achieved.
JUNIORS (all running unopposed/2027)
President
Aurelia Mello
I am running for the position of class president because I hope to make our Senior Year the best that it can be! There are so many milestone events that take place in this final year of high school, and as class president, I will put in my very best effort to create an enjoyable experience for our class. I encourage people to vote for me for the position of president because I can guarantee that I will give the position all of the time and effort that it deserves. I value the opportunity to be able to create memorable and enjoyable experiences for our class, and I would be so grateful to continue serving as President for the Class of 2027!
Vice President
Jason Peters
I want to run for office because I have always liked dealing with money ever since I was little working at the farm. I like being able to run things for my class and be able to make decisions with them. It makes me feel good being in the loop for things like prom boat cruise, and other events that my class will be doing. I feel like people should vote for me because I have been the treasurer for all three years that my grade has been in high school. I work well with the other class officers and always put my best foot forward when I’m doing things like planning events, setting up fundraisers, and making sure everybody pays their dues. I always want to make sure everyone feels included and what we were doing so I believe that it’s not just up to five of us to be eligible to plan the events but it’s up to the whole grade to plan it and we just work on finalizing the details. We are only in high school once and I want to make sure that my grade feels like they have had the best experience that they can and I feel like I’m the best person to make all the best experiences happen with me being the treasurer.

Historian
Sasha Markovich
I will be running for Historian and have been the candidate since freshmen year. I am running for this class officer role again because I enjoy creating ideas for our grade and helping out with future or present events. I am also in charge of our social media account for the class of 2027 (medwayclassof2027) on Instagram. On this account, I am responsible for updating families and students about our class events or fundraisers for those who are active on social media, if necessary.
People should vote for me because I have had many experiences that I take advantage in my role of the class officers without any issues. Being a Historian requires good effort, creativity, cooperation, and leadership. I get along with many students and teachers and try my best to be there for anyone. My goal is to capture our high school memories and make the class of 2027 a remembrance in years from now.
