After starting the season with a terrible 10-17 record, the Red Sox have fired their general manager Alex Cora along with other coaches. Alex Cora had been the Red Sox Manager since October 2017. He had to survive a one year suspension in 2020 because of a sign stealing scandal he was a part of with the Houston Astros in the 2016-2017 season before joining the Red Sox as their general manager. Many people have been saying that he should have been fired a long time ago but because he came into the organization and won a world series in his first season it gave him a huge cushion that many believe he did not deserve. In addition to Cora being let go there were 5 other members of his staff who were also let go, including hitting coach Pete Faste, third-base coach Kyle Hudson, bench coach Ramon Vazquez, assistant hitting coach Dillion Lawson and Major Leeaque hitting strategy coach Joe Cronin. This shows the fans that the Red Sox are not scared to make changes when things are going wrong, but it begs the question that by firing most of your staff do you have a better plan for the future? A lot of people are not happy with the firing of the staff, the players included, especially since none of the players were notified of the firings prior to it being made public. Garrett Whitlock told the media that the chief of staff and the owner made it clear to the players that they get paid to play and not to make decisions for the team. Red Sox fans are scared that the owner John Henry and the Chief of staff Craig Breslow are putting the organization into the ground. By not telling any of the players that their coach was being fired it puts a lot of distrust into the team management and it gives players from other organizations the idea that the Red Sox are not being run well and so why would they want to play for this team? The Red Sox have a lot of problems that they need to fix but it will not get fixed until John Henry sells the teams and chief of staff Craig Breslow is fired. Since the firing the Red Sox are 5-2 (0.600) with Chad Tracy has been their General Manager. So there is still some hope for the Red Sox this year.
