On Thursday April 30th, 2026, Medway High School’s gymnasium was turned into an exciting place for career discovery during the annual Innovation Career Showcase. With 37 tables and a big crowd of investors, teachers, and even fellow students, this recurring event helps to open up potential career opportunities for Medway High School students. Furthermore, the event emphasized real-world skills such as learning through trial and error, which is the mission of Medway’s Innovation Career Pathways program.
Medway’s Innovation Career Pathways offers students interested in particular careers a chance to gain real-life opportunities in fields such as Medicine or Engineering. Moreover, students are placed into classes based on their pathway where they receive hands-on learning experience. This allows students to discover potential careers and experience what it may be like working as one’s selected pathway; in return, students can easily decide on a major for their future.
The showcase celebrates the hard work and preparation students put into their projects, showing how it’s much more than a science fair, and how it is a display of the school’s Innovation Career Pathway’s program.
Engineering teacher Mr. Jasinski, a key leader of the event, said it is important to show the community how students learn, after all “there is a lot of learning that must be shown [and] … the Innovation Career Showcase is the vehicle for the learning.”
The event carries deep significance, acting as a final farewell address where seniors showcase their lengthy journeys to inspire the next generation. Principal Dr. Murray believes that “the Innovation Showcase is one of the highlights of the year, as it’s a great opportunity where students can showcase their learning to industry professionals and even fellow students.” Dr. Murray doesn’t just note how important the Innovation Showcase is, he also sets an ambitious goal for the future of Medway’s Innovation Showcases. Dr. Murray’s goal is for every current freshman to eventually stand behind one of those showcase tables by senior year, proudly showing off their own projects.
The gym was full of energy as people walked through a maze of cool new technology. One big highlight was a presentation of Z-Space, an augmented reality tool that lets students learn using interactive 3D models. While every table was interesting, the senior projects got the most attention; Mr. Jasinski notes that “the highlights of the innovation showcase are for sure the four capstone projects which are always a big draw.” To add on, Mr. Jasinski pointed out that these specific exhibits take a whole year of hard work.
One standout project was one from Advanced Robotics. Student Cooper Bartha showed a special device made to help people with disabilities easily pick things up off the ground. When talking about how he and his teammates built it, Bartha said that he loved the freedom of the class. He said that the project allowed for “unlimited imagination with negligible criterions and constraints”.
Beyond the robots and endless imagination, the real value of the showcase is how it helps students figure out their futures. By meeting experts, students get to make connections, and through internships, they get a feel for jobs they might want to do later in life.

Student Niranjan Manoj Kadakkethu said the program makes a big difference, noting that the pathways allow “people to walk through new doors and opportunities.” Even students who didn’t present this year found it inspiring. Conor Hasomeris, a student watching the event, thought it was “pretty cool to see the programs this school offers, which can help students discover careers they may want to pursue.”
In the end, the Innovation Career Showcase proves that the Medway community cares deeply about its students. By giving them the right tools and connections, Medway High School is making sure its students are ready to build a great future. This cycle of learning ensures that the “vehicle” of the Innovation Career Pathways “, which is the showcase, continues to drive the Medway community toward a more capable future.
