On Friday, March 6, 2026, the Medway Varsity Girls basketball team defeated a tough Cathedral team in the Elite Eight Round. The night started off strong with students and spectators filling the stands, ready for a close game. Daniel Ramos performed the National Anthem, officially kicking off the night.
Early in the game, Medway struggled to keep up and quickly fell behind. Senior Anna Freeman stepped up with key plays that allowed Medway to be in the lead by the end of the second quarter. By halftime, the crowd’s cheers got louder. The energy was stronger and all eyes were glued to the court.
As the second half began, Medway’s defense grew stronger and offense began to click. Strong defense, quick passes, and confident mindsets helped Medway close the gap. Freshman Elena Klaus also had a great impact on the court with her assists and strong efforts. The final score was 53-41 with the Mustangs coming in on top.
By the final buzzer, Medway officially secured the win. With the crowd cheering and a proud smile on athletic director, Jeff Parcell’s face, it was clear that all the hard work had paid off. With an exciting victory, Medway now faces their next game against Bishop Fenwick at Emmanuel college tonight.
