Medway High’s Science Olympiad recently competed within the states’ competition on March 7th at the Wentworth Institute. A competition-based club, Science Olympiad allows students to participate in STEM competitions ranging from topic events such as chemistry to genes. As member and now treasurer of this club since my sophomore year, I have delved into new fields of science, all while strengthening my problem-solving skills. The state meet concluded our club’s events for this year, with Medway coming in the top 30% at 21th out of 76 schools! Additionally, Medway came in the top 10 placements for 4 events: 7th within Botany, 6th within Disease Detectives, 10th within Experimental Design, and 5th within Rocks and Minerals. This is a definite improvement from last year, and a testament to the hard work and effort of new and returning members alike, as well as our advisor, Ms. Hallet. I have no doubt that the club is in great hands for the next few years, and a huge thank you to all of the E-Board members and Ms. Hallet!
