With underage drinking and drug use being a prevalent topic in today’s society, we tend to focus on the negative trends and ignore the positives. But, in reality, there are more positive norms than we may realize. While it is important to acknowledge issues, it is just as important to highlight what we are doing well, as a way to spread the positive social norms. We learned that from the 2023 MetroWest Adolescent Health Survey, 84% of Medway High School students don’t drink in a typical month. This is a great example of how we may perceive something like underage drinking to be a lot more common than it actually is. Misconceptions like this is why it is so important to focus on finding the positives. For this reason, ‘SUP Medway is doing the Most of Medway campaign to spread positive social norms in our community.
