On May 7, 2025, the art program at Medway High School hosted the first Empty Bowls Project event during the Spring Art Exhibition, where Medway high art students contributed their talent and care by creating a display of ceramic bowls. With the support of the Medway Village Food Pantry, the high school was able to feature these ceramic bowls in a silent auction hosted by the pantry. Since it was established in the 1990s, the Empty Bowls initiative has had a vital role in symbolizing the impact of food insecurity in local communities, and has raised millions of dollars in dedication to fixing the hunger crisis. Through this program, every bowl featured and sold offers profits to providing meals to those in need, thereby supporting the Medway community and allowing students to make a true difference in the lives of others.

At the Spring Art Exhibit, students, parents, and teachers all came together to experience the joy of raising money for the food pantry in addition to viewing the array of art pieces created by Medway High School students. Between the unique, colorful ceramic bowls and students’ art pieces, the visual arts program and the Medway Village Food Pantry were able to bring people together and bring awareness to food insecurity in the community, all while celebrating the talent that the high school harbors. Thank you to everyone who participated in the auction and donated to the food pantry!
