Medway’s Substance Use Prevention Coalition (‘SUP) hosted an internship program in partnership with MHS. One intern, Victoria Bullard, developed a ‘Quit Kit’ for Medway High School students. These kits are intended for struggling students who are using products like ZYN, THC, and nicotine through vapes. Students find it difficult to stop using nicotine since it is highly addicting, and as they get older, the habit becomes extremely difficult to kick. Additionally, students may find it difficult to approach an adult for assistance; this student-based approach may encourage more students to begin their quitting journey. To assist students who are attempting to stop using these very addicting substances, Bullard decided to develop an approachable product. In place of nicotine, tangible goods such as gum and lollipops are in the kits to replace the mouthfeel of having a vape or ZYN. Whether anonymously or not, these kits will be available to everyone at the school and can be received from the assistant principals, nurses, and counselors in drop locations, as well as through Bullard herself.
