After a long anticipated wait, Joseph P. Hanlon Field is open once again! Originally, back in 2002 when the field was first renamed the natural grass field was dedicated to a longtime teacher, coach, and assistant principal in the Medway community, Joseph P. Hanlon.
In 2004, the town decided to turn this field into a synthetic turf field, becoming the first one for Medway High School athletics. A decade later, in 2014, the field was renovated and rededicated as part of a major athletic complex upgrade on campus. And now, in 2025, Hanlon Field has been completely redone once again, after a long summer of work that began in June and was finally finished this October. The Girls Varsity Soccer Team had the honor of being the first to play on the new field on October 23, 2025, coming out with a win over Norton. The official rededication took place the following day, October 24, 2025, when the Medway Football Team faced Dover Sherborn, who along with the soccer team brought home a victory for Medway. The reopening not only celebrates the new field, but also honors Joseph P. Hanlon and his lasting legacy in Medway. This event brought together the whole community and reminded everyone why Hanlon Field means so much to Medway.
