This past Friday, the Medway Football team traveled to Westwood where they played a close game against a strong team. Going into the game, the Mustangs had a record of 2-1, and the Wolverines, a record of 1-2. The game started off well for Medway as Senior Captain Logan Keaney connected with Senior Captain Jacob White on a long touchdown to take an early lead. However, Westwood responded back with a touchdown of their own. The score was 7-6 Westwood coming to the end of the first half when Medway’s Quarterback Logan Keaney went down with an injury and Sophomore Troy Pinkham stepped up to close out the half. The two teams traded touchdowns on their first drives with the ball in the second half, making the score 14-12 as they headed into the fourth quarter following a long touchdown run by Senior Christian Cautilli. Westwood scored early in the Fourth quarter making it a score of 20-12. However with 6 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, the Mustangs found themselves in the endzone after a couple of amazing catches by Jacob White, along with his second touchdown catch of the game thrown by Troy Pinkham. The team completed the 2 point conversion and the game was tied up 20-20 with 5:45 to go in the game. The Mustangs defense held strong with a quick three and out by the Wolverines. Medway took this opportunity to drive down the field where Troy Pinkham would throw Jacob White his third touchdown of the game. With 2:30 left to go in the game, Medway led 27-20, and that was when Westwood pulled out a trick play on Kick Return which did not go their way after a huge hit by Senior Grant Hetzel, then forcing a fumble with Medway recovering it at the 2 yard line. With the ball that close on the line they did a Quarterback dive with Logan Keaney, and the Mustangs found themselves up 34-20 with 2 minutes remaining. Westwood drove down the field once more hoping to put some points on the board but failed and Medway came out on top 34-20 improving their record to 3-1.
