Netflix and the Red Sox have released a new documentary called The Clubhouse: A Year with the Red Sox. Every baseball fan should watch this even if they are not a fan of the Red Sox. The documentary takes the viewers through the team’s highs and lows in the 2024 season, where their final record was 81-81. It features interviews with players, coaches, and die-hard fans who share what it means to be part of such an iconic franchise in the Red Sox. With this documentary, you see that the players and coaches are just human too, and they make mistakes– just like we do. It shows how when fans get mad at a player for making a bad play, the players are deeply affected. For instance, Jarren Duran talks about all his struggles with mental health and how he tried to kill himself.
The season might not have gone as well as the fans wanted it to, but the documentary shows all the promise in the Red Sox building with all the new young players that will be in Boston for years to come. The players all tell the fans that they want to win a championship just as badly as the fans want one, and they say that it is coming soon. The documentary is a real eye-opener–not everything is sunshine and rainbows for the players. Although players get paid so much money, the stakes are high. There is much more pressure on them and that makes everything a lot harder. The documentary was amazing, and the next thing that needs to come to Boston is another championship banner.
