The Boston’s Celtics first two home games against the New York Knicks didn’t go quite as expected. The Celtics lost both games, in which they had 20 point leads, leaving the TD Garden fans in silence. In game one of the Eastern Conference Semifinals, the Celtics were off to a hot start thanks to their two superstars Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown who helped them go into halftime with a 19 point lead. However, Boston began to fall apart in the second half, as their offense failed to produce, and their defense looked terrible as Knicks players, Jalen Brunson and OG Anunoby, began to go on a tear late in the game. The Celtics ended up blowing this lead and losing game one in overtime. Not only did they lose this game, they set an NBA playoff record with 45 missed three pointers as well. The Celtics opened up game two with another great start, leading up to even 20 points late in the third. The Knicks still had some hope left in them, and managed to rally back once more. Knicks Mikal Bridges scored 14 points in this game, all coming in the fourth quarter when they needed it most. Along with Bridges, Brunson had helped them fight back into this game as he even sank the pair of free throws that sealed the game as the Knicks took game two with a final score of 91-90. With the series shifting to New York for game three, all eyes were on Boston. Just like the past two games the Celtics came out strong, finally putting together a complete performance for the whole game. Unlike the first two games, their shots were now finally falling, as they drained 20 shots from behind the arc. Jayson Tatum led the way for the Celtics playing an all around game. Boston cruised their way to a 115-93 win, cutting the series to 2-1 with all the momentum on their side coming back to New York in game four.
