Last night, Medway’s varsity hockey team faced off against North Attleboro, or as the hockey players call their opponent, Little Red. There was some upside in the second period. After a scoreless first period, senior captain, Jason Bedard, scoring the game’s first goal to make it 1-0. Little Red got revenge scoring four unanswered goals to make it 4-1 until sophomore, Michael Damon scored a goal to make it 4-2. The energy was shifting towards Medway until Cooper Garvin scored a goal on Medway’s net to make it 5-2 going to the second-period break. Assistant coach Sarno talked to the team in the locker room at that point, saying, “When I first watched you play I fell in love with you guys,” reported Joey Towle, a player on the team. This got the players going again with Colin Towle and Jason Drake scoring amazing goals. Then Michael Damon got the electric game-tying goal to send the game to overtime. In overtime, Jason Drake got the final goal of the game with a pass from Michael Damon who won the MVP trophy for the MLK Day tournament. What a great game for Medway to win with the final score being the Medway Mustangs 6 and Little Red 5.
