To my fellow Medway High School students,
With yesterday’s election, there are many polarizing feelings about America. It is felt all over the country, even in our school. Yet it is important to remember, regardless of your political stance or background, that as a country we stand together in favor of democracy. Democracy has brought an elected official that we decided on as a country: Donald Trump will be our 47th president. That being said, MHS’s 2024 mock election resulted in a win for Kamala Harris. Regardless of our political affiliation, we must remain united and grateful for the democratic processes that our country has stood upon since its inception, whether we are happy or unhappy with the outcome. We must each protect those essential rights laid out for our nation in 1789.
Remember, we are all part of this community. We do not have to look the same, talk the same, or think the same, but we all deserve respect and the right to dignity.
With warm regards,
Sofia Mercier
